Professional Consulting &
Advisory Services
I have worked in the schools, preschool, and early intervention settings over my years as an SLP. I have experienced, first hand, the power of visibility and representation. Advocacy has been at the forefront of my practice since day one and while the road has not always been easy the destination has always been clear: facilitate a shift in understanding leading to improved practices when providing services to Dual-Language, Emergent Bilingual, and/or multicultural learners.

At this stage of my career, sharing my skills and experience is extremely important to me because I know awareness is the first step - with cultural responsiveness being the ultimate destination. Making a difference through professional consulting, in-service trainings, and advisory calls is an essential part of My Speech Place LLC. The driving force is my passion for advocacy for CLD (Culturally and Linguistically Diverse) populations.

According to the 5 Million Project there are about 5 million children in our schools today learning English. In New Mexico 1 in 5 students are English Language Learners. As we become a more linguistically diverse community the need for expertise in supporting, assessing, and treating bilingual children is urgent.

In the U.S., there are only 14,958 Bilingual Speech-Language Pathologists*. My goal is to create inter-professional relationships with educators and partnerships with monolingual SLPs in order to bridge the gap between the number of qualified bilingual providers and the number of communities in need of services.
